MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar has developed into a tropical depression Wednesday evening and was named "Odette," PAGASA said.
 
In its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 925 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan at 10 p.m. It was forecast to move west-northwest at 26 kph.
 
PAGASA said it packs maximum winds of up to 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kph.
 
Tropical Depression Odette brings an estimated moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall amount within its 300 km diameter.
 
Signal No. 1 was raised over Cagayan and Isabela. PAGASA added that Signal No. 1 might also be raised over Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga and Mountain Province tomorrow morning.
 
It warned against sea travel over the northern seaboards of northern Luzon.
