PAGASA: Scattered showers, thunderstorms expected over Luzon, Visayas this weekend
MANILA, Philippines — Prepare for a rainy weekend.
A low pressure area has been spotted 525 kilometers east southeast of Virac, Catanduanes that may bring rains and scattered thunderstorms in some parts of Luzon and Visayas, the state weather bureau said on Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the brewing storm is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, eastern Visayas, Cagayan, Isabela and Quezon.
Residents in these areas should prepare for possible scattered lightning, as well as light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains which may cause flooding, PAGASA said.
They should also expect moderate to occasionally rough coastal waters, it added.
According to PAGASA, the weather disturbance was monitored at 3 a.m.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country should anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies apart from isolated rainshowers mostly in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms.
