Drug suspect slain in sting

MALOLOS, Philippines — A suspected drug trafficker was killed after he allegedly tried to exchange fire with police officers in this city yesterday morning.

The fatality, identified as Intsik reportedly pulled out a gun after sensing that he was dealing with undercover agents during a sting in Barangay Santo Cristo, according to Bulacan police director Senior Superintendent  Romeo Caramat Jr.

Police said they recovered an improvised gun and a plastic sachet said to contain shabu from the scene of the encounter.

Meanwhile, a barangay councilman was arrested after he reportedly sold shabu to an undercover agent in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on Sunday.

Roger Failano, 40, of Barangay Susugaen, Pasuquin town, reportedly yielded two plastic sachets said to contain shabu and marked money, police said.

Authorities said Failano had surrendered to Oplan Tokhang in Pasuquin last year.
