4 drug suspects killed
MANILA, Philippines — A barangay chairman and three other drug suspects were shot dead in Cavite and Samar on Wednesday.
Louie Nening, chairman of Barangay Bulao in San Jorge, Samar, allegedly pulled out his gun when he sensed he had sold shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Guindapunan.
Alvin Gregorio, 20, was standing in front of a store in Barangay Maliksi 1, Bacoor, Cavite at around 6:40 p.m. when he was shot. His companions Bienvenido Dagasdas, 58, and Allan Skaggs, 43, were wounded and taken to the St. Dominic Hospital for treatment.
Rafael Jocas Catalan and Christian Paul Martin were standing along Tito Avenue in Barangay San Nicolas 2 also in Bacoor at about 9 p.m. when motorcycle-riding men arrived and opened fire.
Superintendent Christopher Olazo, Bacoor police chief, said the incidents could be due to the fighting between suppliers and sellers of shabu. He said the fatalities were on the drug watchlist.
Girl, 13, held for shabu
In Zamboanga del Norte, a 13-year-old girl was arrested for trying to sneak a sachet of shabu into a prison in Manukan town, where her mother is detained for illegal drugs.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesperson, said the Grade 8 student hid a sachet of shabu in her socks.
“Upon verification of the suspect’s cell phone, it was found out…her mother instructed her to deliver the illegal drugs,” Galvez said.
The girl was turned over to the custody of the municipal social welfare and development.
In Agusan del Norte, Gilbert Gantala, councilman of Barangay San Agustin, Carmen, was arrested after a raid on his house allegedly yielded five sachets of shabu.
Police said 14 persons on the drug watchlist in their areas were collared in stings in Bustos, Meycauayan and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan; Mabalacat and Magalang, Pampanga; Gerona, Tarlac and Cabangan, Zambales.
Danilo Torres, 61, and his wife Aida, 62, were nabbed in Gonzaga, Cagayan.
