8 dead in motorbike mishaps

MANILA, Philippines — Eight persons died in separate road accidents in Pangasinan, Isabela and La Union on Tuesday.

Sophia Pamo, 2, was riding a motorcycle with her grandparents when they hit a carabao in Barangay Banog Norte, Bani, Pangasinan.  The girl was pronounced dead on arrival at the San Juan Medical Clinic, where her grandparents were also taken for treatment of their injuries.

The motorcycles driven by Jeff Cayanan, 21, rammed a steel railing in Barangay Ballay, Bauang; John Lloyd Baronia, 17, hit a flower pot in Barangay Lioac, Naguilian, and Edwin Dugdagan collided with a pickup truck along the highway in Ili Norte, San Juan in  La Union.

Rosheila Valdez and her companion Edgardo Ped were declared dead on arrival in a  hospital when their motorcycle collided with an Isuzu Elf truck in Barangay Magsaysay, Cordon, Isabela.

Edwardo Sanchez, 57, and Roseller Acupido, 57, suffered fatal injuries when their motorcycle was hit by a 10-wheeler truck in Barangay District 1, San Manuel also in Isabela. – Raymund Catindig, Eva Visperas, Jun Elias
