CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A drug suspect and four other persons were killed in gun attacks in Laguna, Batangas and Cavite on Sunday.
Joselito Gapas, who police said was a known drug personality in his barangay, was walking along Mulawin street in Barangay Bucal, Calamba, Laguna when an unidentified man shot him at close range. He died at the scene.
Tricycle driver Ramelo Macatangay and construction worker Joseph Apusaga were shot in Barangay Latag, Lipa City and Poctol, San Juan, respectively, in Batangas.
Businessman Noel Olan, 56, was tending his meat shop in Barangay Marawoy, Lipa when two men approached and shot him in the head.
In Cavite, Jorry Rongo was fatally shot while walking in Barangay San Dionisio, Damariñas City.
Witnesses said the man who shot Rongo also fired at Jun-Jun Juares and Lucio Lopez who were walking on their way home. The victims were taken to the DLSMUC Hospital and Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas, respectively, for treatment.
Police have yet to determine the motives for the shootings.
