Tourist drowns in La Union falls

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union , Philippines  – A tourist from Manila drowned after he dived into the Tangadan Falls in San Gabriel town in this province on Saturday.

Jose Mose Sy Ascana, 23, of Malate, was reportedly swept away by the water current, according to Chief Inspector Silverio Ordinado Jr., information officer of the La Union police.

Ascana and his companions were reportedly trekking in Barangay Amontoc when the victim decided to dive into the waterfall.

Members of a local rescue team retrieved the victim’s body and rushed him to the Bacnotan District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
