Pandesal vendor accused of raping girl, 12

BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines – Another child rape case has been reported.

A pandesal vendor was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in his house in Barangay Capitangan, Abucay, Bataan.

Initial investigation showed Anselmo Sumandal asked the victim to fetch water near his house on Tuesday. When the girl came, the suspect reportedly forced her to enter his house and raped her.

Sumandal was arrested at the house of his friend in Sitio San Rafael, Barangay Tuyo in this city.

Responding policemen said they recovered four sachets of shabu from Sumandal. He is being held at the Abucay police station.         

On Monday, the decomposing body of suspected rape victim Christina Claire Mielle Medina, 8, was found along the road in Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

Last weekend, a five-year-old girl was found stuffed in a sack in Barangay Kaypian, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The suspect is her 13-year-old neighbor.
