MANILA, Philippines - Three suspected drug personalities were killed in separate police operations in Luzon over the weekend.
Rodrigo Limus, alias Jojo, reportedly tried to resist arrest during a sting in San Rafael, Bulacan yesterday morning.
Limus reportedly pulled out a gun and fired at the police officers, triggering a shootout, according to Senior Superintendent Romeo Caramat Jr., acting Bulacan police chief.
Probers said they recovered a .38 caliber revolver and a plastice sachet said to contain shabu from Limus.
In Nueva Vizcaya, Christopher Alvarez reportedly pulled out a gun and shot at the police officers during a sting in Barangay District 4, Bayombong on Saturday.
The officers retaliated hitting Alvarez, who was declared dead on arrival at the Veterans Regional Hospital.
Probers said they recovered two plastic sachets said to contain shabu, a .38 caliber revolver and marked money from the suspect.
In Camarines Norte, a drug suspect was found dead with gunshots to the head and body in Labo town on Friday.
Miguel Alaon Jr., 54, who was found at around 7 a.m. in Barangay Talobatib, was on the drug list of the local police.
Probers have yet to identify Alaon’s killers.
8 arrested
Meanwhile, eight persons, including a village chief and four minors, were arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Gen. S. K. Pendatun town, Maguindanao on Saturday morning.
On the same day, two others were collared in a sting in Bocaue, Bulacan.
Crizel Padilla and Jay Yambao reportedly yielded 13 plastic sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and marked money.
Among those arrested in Maguindanao are Barangay Midconding chairman Datumama Abdul, 31; Darex Maslamama, 33; Datukung Membida, 23, and Mundjahel Membia, 19.
Another suspect, identified as Buga Abdul, alias Lapu-lapu, managed to escape along with several others, according to a joint team of the military and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The Army said that aside from involvement in illegal drugs, the suspects were tagged in a series of violent attacks against government forces and rival clans in the area.
