5 hurt in North Cotabato grenade blast

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – Five persons were wounded in a grenade explosion in Barangay General Luna in Carmen, North Cotabato at past 6 p.m. Friday.

David Orteza, Joel Aragon, Henry Nobleza and two children were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation showed the victims were eating dinner when a man hurled a grenade through an open window. The owner of the house, farmer Larry Mundo, and his guest Renato Luna, chairman of Barangay Luna, were unhurt.

Chief Inspector Julius Malcontento of the Carmen municipal police said either Mundo or Luna could be the target of the attack. An investigation is underway.
