2 women stabbed dead

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  – Two women were stabbed dead in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo on Wednesday.

Nelly Bretana, 81, and her daughter Lilibeth Silvederio, 51, were declared dead on arrival at the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital.  Silvederio’s son Jan-Jan, 13, was wounded.

Efren Descutido, 50, admitted stabbing the victims at their house in Barangay Tiwi. He claimed he only defended himself when Silvederio kicked him while Jan-Jan and Bretaña also tried to hit him.

Police are eyeing a land dispute as the motive for the killings. Descutido claimed he was forced to remove a portion of his fence and bathroom after Silvederio told him that he was encroaching on her property.
