Drug suspect killed in Batangas shootout
BATANGAS, Philippines (The Filipino Connection) — A suspected drug pusher was killed in a firefight with police officers in Barangay Taysan in San Jose town on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Chief Inspector Ronnie Golfo, San Jose police chief, identified the slain suspect as Rodolfo Macalindong, alias Rojun.

The suspect had two standing warrants of arrest for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and another one for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Golfo said the police station received information that the suspect was sighted along Makalintal Avenue in a white Mitsubishi Lancer.

Police operatives were immediately dispatched and approached the suspect but he reportedly refused to yield to authorities.

He instead allegedly opened fire, prompting police to shoot back, wounding the suspect. Macalindong was immediately brought to the San Jose District Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
