Lightning kills 2 farmers

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Two farmers died after they were hit by lightning in Sibalom, Antique on Monday.

Residents found the bodies of Mario Balsomo, 53, and Alex Odipa, 42, in a shanty in the middle of a rice field in Barangay Cabariuan at around 8 p.m.

Odipa’s son said he looked for his father after he failed to go home.

Probers said the victims could have taken cover in the shanty during heavy rains at around 4 p.m.
