MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit-1 on Thursday temporarily halted its operation due to a suspicious package.

Department of Tourism Under Secretary Cesar Chavez said one passenger left a suspicious package in one of the train coaches in Roosevelt Station in Quezon City prompting them to halt its operation from Roosevelt to Monumento stations. He said that Monumento to Baclaran southbound route operated normally.

“Inisolate [lang] natin yung tren so ‘di muna nag-papapasok ng pasahero para ma-rule out lang na ito’y hindi magdulot ng mas mapanganib kaya sinarado ang operasyon ng LRT,” Chavez said in a radio interview with dzRH.

The suspicious package however turned out to be just a bag containing clothes. The DOTr and security forces cleared the stations from bomb threat suspicion.

The Balintawak and Roosevelt Stations resumed its operations an hour after the authorities' inspection.
