MANILA, Philippines -  Five inmates escaped from a Bureau of Jail Management and Penelogy (BJMP) facility in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro yesterday morning.

Jail Officer 1 Bernardo Baldesco said he conducted an inspection at around 2 a.m. and found the locks of cells 1 and 2 broken.

The escapees were identified as Remegio Orfrecio, Toribio Mercado, Ananias Dalisay, Marvin Montemayor and Marlon Genabe.

The inmates were facing charges of violence against women and children, theft, rape and drugs, according to Superintendent Imelda Tolentino, information officer of the Oriental Mindoro police.

All police stations in the province have been ordered to be on the lookout for the fugitives.
