Marawi jail escapee recaptured

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines – An inmate at the Marawi City jail, who was among the 107 freed by Maute gunmen on Tuesday night, was recaptured in this city on Thursday night.

Authorities said Macmac Laguindab was still wearing his jail uniform when spotted along the national highway in Barangay Maria Cristina.

Laguinab said he sought refuge at the house of his relative here after the militants burned the jail and released them at the height of gunfights with government troops. He said had been detained for more than a year for carjacking.
