Cop chief sacked over jailbreak

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – The police chief of San Pedro, Laguna and a jail guard were relieved from their posts yesterday following the escape of six inmates from the city jail.

Chief Superintendent MaO Aplasca, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police director, ordered the relief of Superintendent Harold Depositar and Police Officer 2 Jobencio Piodo after the 24-hour deadline to recapture the escapees lapsed.

Only one of the escapees, Jordan Mahusay, was captured at his hideout in Barangay San Vicente yesterday. 

Superintendent Zeric Soriano replaced Depositar.
