Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The low-pressure area off Batanes is not expected to develop into a cyclone, but it will continue to bring light to moderate rains over parts of Northern and Central Luzon until Thursday, the state weather bureau said yesterday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) spotted the low-pressure area at 600 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes at 4 p.m. yesterday.

Weather forecaster Loriedin de la Cruz said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms would be experienced over Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras and Central Luzon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather with isolated thunderstorms especially in the afternoon and at night.

De la Cruz said Metro Manila would continue to experience warm weather with temperature ranging from 25 to 35 degrees Celsius from today until Thursday.

In Baguio City, the temperature will range from 17 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Generally fair weather is also expected over the Visayas and Mindanao with forecast temperature of 26 to 32 degrees Celsius and 26 to 33 degrees Celsius, respectively.
