Cop shot dead in Iloilo

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  – A police officer was shot dead, allegedly by his former neighbor, in Dumangas, Iloilo on Saturday.

Senior Police Officer 1 Sherwin Arondain, 42, of Barotac Nuevo, was declared dead on arrival at a hospital due to several gunshot wounds in the body.

Arondain was on his way home on a motorcycle when he was pulled over by a group of men, who were having a drinking session in Barangay PD Montfort North.

The victim stopped to talk to the group, when one of the men shot him and fled.

Police arrested Rolly Lete in Barangay Tubungan based on a witness’ description of Arondain’s killer.

Lete denied the allegation.
