Russian ships arriving in Manila today
MANILA, Philippines - Two Russian warships will arrive in Manila today for a goodwill visit.
The guided missile cruiser Varyag and sea tanker Pechenga from the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy will be in the country for several days, the Philippine Navy said yesterday.
The ships will dock at South Harbor’s Pier 15 where a welcome ceremony led by Navy officials will be held at around 9 a.m.
Members of the media will be toured around the ships on Saturday.
A concert by the Russian cultural dancers and music ensemble will be held in Rizal Park at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
President Duterte toured the Russian anti-submarine warship Admiral Tributs when it docked in Manila last January.
Presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said the visit by the Russian Navy would boost ties between the two countries.
