Kahit 1 sq. cm sa WPS ‘di isusuko sa China

MANILA, Philippines -  Hindi ipamimigay o pababayaan ni Pangulong Duterte ang anumang parte ng Pilipinas partikular sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Tiniyak ni Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano sa media briefing sa Bangkok, Thailand na walang plano ang Pangulo na hayaang makuha ng China ang kahit 1 square centimeter na teritoryo ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea na inaangkin din ng China.

“We continue to assure our people that President Duterte will not give up a part of our territory. President Duterte will not give up a single square centimeter of Philippine territory. President Duterte will protect each part of Philippine territory,” sabi ni Cayetano.

Iginagalang din ng Duterte administration ang mga suhestyon ni Supreme Court senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio kaugnay sa isyu ng WPS.

Sinabi ni Cayetano, bagama’t expert si Justice Carpio sa usapin ng West Philippine Sea ay may ibang strategy na ginagamit ang Pangulo upang mabalanse nito ang sitwasyon.

“We need people like Justice Carpio to continue to guide to ask hard questions. if you look at the 5 steps that he wants some of them are purely legal, some are purely diplomatic but some are matter of strategy and geo-politics di ba that the administration has to weigh at this period in time,” wika ng senador.

Siniguro rin kahapon ng Malacañang na walang pumipigil sa mga Pinoy fishermen upang mala­yang makapangisda sa Panatag Shoal.

Naunang sinabi ni DFA acting Sec. Enrique Manalo na humihingi na ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ng clarification mula sa China kaugnay sa napaulat na plano nitong magkaroon ng construction sa Panatag Shoal.

Aniya, umaasa ang DFA at iba pang claimants sa South China Sea na magkakaroon ng maayos na usapan sa gaganaping ASEAN-China meeting sa Mayo upang talakayin ang hinggil sa Code of Conduct sa South China Sea.
