QC Batang Pinoy bets feted

MANILA, Philippines -  The Quezon City government honored 109 young athletes from the city who placed fifth overall in the recently concluded Batang Pinoy 2016 National Championships.

The QC bets hauled 30 gold, 33 silver and 26 bronze medals for an 89-medal output.

In recognition of their achievement, a P100,000 cash incentive was awarded to the athletes during simple turnover rites at QC Hall attended by Mayor Herbert Bautista, Philippine Sports commissioner Dr. Celia Kiram and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Coaches Aileen Padilla and Jinkee Pido and athletes Jenalyn Cuisano for wrestling, Vlessie Hicula, Jewel Ann Rafael and Joemarie Rafael for judo also graced the event.

About 14,000 athletes from 300 local government units competed in the annual youth games held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte.
