Skyathon to help fund Boracay rehab program
MANILA, Philippines - Sky Cable Corp. is holding the Skyathon Boracay Beach Run 2017 on April 22 to generate awareness and at the same time raise funds to sustain the island’s natural beauty and rich marine ecosystem.
This is actually the second year Skyathon will be focusing on restoring the island’s coral reefs by generating funds to purchase reef nurseries via the Coral Refurbishment project in partnership with the Boracay Foundation, Inc.
The top cable firm is looking at keeping the advocacy on a long-term basis.
“Boracay has given so much to Filipinos and it is only fitting that we return the favor by helping the country’s world-class island remain beautiful,” said Sky Cable sales marketing head Jaynalen Redondo in yesterday’s press conference at the Buffalo Wild Wings at the Estancia Mall in Pasig.
Sky Cable marketing manager Delbert Santos II said this year’s theme is “Be A Hero in Boracay.”
“This is actually a run to save the island because the problem is getting bigger,” said Santos.
Others who graced the event launch were RunRio president Rio dela Cruz and marketing director Andrew Neri.
“This rehabilitation project can help coral reefs to recover for Boracay and maintain a healthy coastal marine ecosystem,” said Neri.
Dela Cruz said they added the 3K event to the 10K and 5K races.
