Mild quakes rock Negros
MANILA, Philippines - A series of mild earthquakes rocked parts of Negros Oriental yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
A magnitude-1.9 quake occurred at 2:38 a.m. some 12 kilometers southwest of Luzuriaga. It was felt at Intensity 2 in Valencia town.
The second tremor, a magnitude 4.3, occurred some 29 kilometers southwest of Sibulan at 3:18 a.m. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Sibulan and Valencia, and Intensity 2 in Dumaguete City.
The third, a magnitude 3, was recorded at 3:23 a.m. Its epicenter was traced some six kilometers southwest of Luzuriaga.
The temblor was felt at Intensity 2 in Valencia and Dumaguete City.
No damage or aftershock was expected from the quakes.
