NCRPO gets high trust, satisfaction rating -poll

MANILA, Philippines – Public trust and satisfaction with the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) increased owing to its intensified campaign against crime, particularly illegal drugs, according to a National Police Commission (Napolcom) survey.

The poll conducted in November last year showed that public trust with NCRPO officers increased to 52 percent from 50.78 percent in 2014.

The NCRPO’s score on public safety awareness increased by 13.4 percent, from 29.3 percent to 42.7 percent while crime reporting by public went up by 19.8 percent, from 24.1 percent to 43.9 percent.

The Napolcom survey involved 570 respondents in Metro Manila.

The respondents include students, professionals, religious leaders, barangay officials and employees, business sector representatives, force multipliers, street workers as well as household members randomly selected in different barangays in the metropolis.

The Las Piñas police got the highest rating on public trust  with 83.3 percent followed by the Pasay police with 66.7 percent; Muntinlupa and San Juan police stations were tied at third place with 65 percent followed by Mandaluyong police and Navotas police with 60 percent each.

The Malabon police and Pateros police ranked fifth with 58.3 percent; Caloocan police, 58 percent; Pasig police, 56.7 percent; Makati and Taguig police with 55 percent each, and the Manila Police District with 52 percent.

The Valenzuela City police scored 50 percent while the Parañaque police got 45 percent. The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) received a 30 percent rating.

The Southern Police District ranked first in response and accessibility followed by the Manila Police District, Eastern Police District, Northern Police District and the QCPD.

The Las Piñas  police also  ranked first in terms of response and accessibility.

The survey also showed that the image of the NCRPO in terms of lifestyle, moral and ethics went down from 44.2 percent in 2014 to 32.6 percent.

NCRPO chief Director Oscar Albayalde lauded the members of the Metro Manila police for their accomplishment.

He said the survey result should encourage the NCRPO personnel to further improve their performance.

“There will be no let up in the campaign against crime, particularly illegal drugs,” Albayalde said.

“We will take the result of the survey as a guide to further improve our performance and pursue our transformation programs,” he added.

Albayalde earlier said that crimes such as robbery, theft, rape and physical injury went down in Metro Manila amid the government’s war on drugs.
