Court junks Misuari’s bid to travel abroad
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chairman Nur Misuari had wanted to travel abroad, but his request was turned down by a Pasig court handling the cases of rebellion and violation of the international humanitarian law filed against him.
Misuari filed a request to travel to the Middle East the other week to attend a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, according to Jesus Carbon, city legal officer.
Carbon said the court told Misuari that it had no authority to grant the request as it had nothing to do with the peace process.
Misuari, who was wanted for the Zamboanga siege, resurfaced on Nov. 3 after the court suspended the arrest warrant issued against him, so he could participate in the peace initiatives of the Duterte government.
