Drug surrenderer falls in buy-bust

CEBU, Philippines - A 31-year-old reported drug pusher who had once surrendered to authorities was arrested in a buy-bust operation Friday in Barangay Suba, Bantayan Island.

Arrested was Lester Ariel Desamparado, a resident of the place and reportedly works as a caregiver.

Desamparado is also in the town police's list of drug personalities and earlier surrendered to the police under Oplan Tokhang.

Bantayan police led by Chief Inspector Stephen Amamag-id arranged the operation against the suspect after confirming the latter's involvement in the illegal drug business through surveillance.

Desamparado was arrested after he received the buy-bust money in exchange for a small heat-sealed pack of suspected shabu.

Police were able to recover from his possession three more packs of suspected shabu and the P500 buy-bust money.

Suspect is now detained and will face charges for selling and for possession of illegal drugs. (FREEMAN)
