Cebuano jins sizzle in UAAP taekwondo

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu's pride Rinna Babanto and McAvyngyr Alob made valuable contributions that helped De La Salle University clinch its first overall championship in poomsae event (forms) of taekwondo competition in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in Manila.

Babanto grabbed one of the two golds that DSLU earned after reigning supreme in the individual female poomsae. She  added a silver through the team event.

Alob, for his part, handed a silver in the team event and bronze in the individual battle.

DLSU got a total of two golds, two silvers and a bronze to claim overall title after four years of battling it out for supremacy.

Another Cebuano Lyan Llanto also made his presence felt for being part of the University of the Philippines squad that captured bronze medal in the all-male team event. (FREEMAN)
