Settle cash advances, Palawan government told
MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Audit (COA) has called the attention of the provincial government of Palawan regarding the unliquidated cash advances of its officials and employees.
In a 2015 report released recently, state auditors said failure to liquidate cash advances is a ground for the filing of charges, including malversation of public funds.
The audit team said P80,877,037.07 of the cash advances made in 2011 have yet to be liquidated as of Dec. 31, 2015.
The provincial accountant was directed “to employ all possible means provided by law” for the settlement of the cash advances.
“As for those who already retired or resigned from the service, make a final demand for its settlement and in case of failure to settle, submit the entire records to the provincial legal office for... remedies,” the COA report stated.
The provincial government for its part, gave assurance it would comply with COA’s recommendations.
