North Cotabato cop killed while investigating road accident

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines - A traffic policemen was killed Thursday when a speeding motorcycle with a drunken rider hit him while investigating on a road accident in Midsayap town in North Cotabato.

SPO1 Aldren Janoras died from head injuries he sustained when he fell on the concrete pavement after he was rammed by the motorcycle of Kish Cabalinan while inspecting the scene of a prior vehicular accident.

A companion of Janoras, initially identified only as PO3 Alestre, was also hurt in the accident.

Vigilant barangay residents milling around managed to pin Cabalinan down while trying to escape.

Cabalinan is now detained, to be prosecuted for reckless driving that caused the death of Janoras.

Investigators confirmed on Friday that he was under the influence of liquor when he figured in the accident.
