LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – Sixteen persons have died of rabies in Pangasinan since January, the provincial health office reported yesterday.
Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, provincial health office chief, said the figure is “very alarming.”
De Guzman said 19 of the 25 deaths due to rabies recorded in the Ilocos Region last year also came from Pangasinan.
She stressed the need to educate the public on the importance of having their pets vaccinated against rabies.
