Kagawad, 2 others nabbed for guns, explosives, drugs in Davao Occidental

MANILA, Philippines – Three men, including a barangay councilor, were caught last weekend for possession of firearms, explosives and illegal drugs in Malita, Davao Occidental.

The police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of Davao Occidental identified the suspects as Ahmad Rudiane Sayadi, Gene Bantolino Gonzales and Daniel Tigas Mamolo.

Sadayi and Mamolo are listed as drug personalities in the province, while Gonzales is a barangay kagawad.

The suspects were apprehended on Saturday in separate operations in Barangay Fishing Village and Barangay Tubalan in Malita around 5:30 a.m.

The authorities confiscated three guns, two grenades, several magazines, assorted ammunition, gun parts, 14 sachets of suspected shabu, six cellular phones, cash amounting to around P89,000 and assorted gambling paraphernalia.

Cases for violations of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), RA 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives), and RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) were filed against the three suspects.

Meanwhile, a murder suspect identified as Orlando Gaco Jr. was collared at at Sitio Tuburan, Brgy Mantija in Danao City, Cebu yesterday.

Gaco was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant by joint manhunt teams from Metro Cebu CIDG and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office. -- AJ Bolando
