DARAGA, Philippines (Bicol Standard) — A prominent transport leader in the Bicol region was shot dead earlier today near his residence at Barangay Inarado in Daraga, Albay.
Oscar “Oca” Magallon, who used to be a leader of Condor Piston Bicol in the 1980s, was allegedly killed by an unidentified suspect.
The suspect, the Daraga police said, was wearing a black jacket, short pants and a belt bag. He drove away from the scene of the crime on a black Fury motorcycle going to the direction of Camalig town, the report added.
The initial investigation reveals two possible motives for the killing. First is an alleged land dispute among the members of his family. Another could be the release of a franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, the reports said.
Meanwhile, according to the family, his brother Tomas, who is also a member of a transport group, received threats.
As of this writing, investigators are still at the scene of the crime.
