Baby dies after ma lashes his throat in Bukidnon

MANILA, Philippines – A mother of four lost her sanity due to depression and killed her own son, while hurting others in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon yesterday.

Chief Inspector Mitchell Clemencio, Cabanglasan chief of police, said the suspect, identified as Moning Butlogan y Timbak, 35, resident of Sulit Libagon, Capalong, Davao del Norte, hacked her family, including her four-month-old baby, around 3:30 p.m. at her mother’s residence in P5, Poblacion, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon.

The baby was pronounced dead by attending physician Elma Oclarit of the Municipal Health Office, while the suspect's other children luckily survived and now at Bukidnon Provincial Medical Center in Malaybalay City receiving treatment.

Investigation revealed that the mother has been suffering from depression after running away from her husband who allegedly beat her.

The suspect brought her kids to her mother’s house in Cabanglasan on Wednesday and since then lost her appetite and became anxious.

She suddenly snapped and used a bolo knife to try to hack her children. The baby was hit on the neck, and the mother drank his blood before throwing him over the fence.

Authorities rushed to the crime scene to neutralize the suspect who was running amuck when they arrived.

The responding police only managed to nab the suspect after she collapsed when she tried to commit suicide by slashing her throat.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital and is now in critical condition.
