Gomez apologizes for illegal parking

ORMOC CITY, Philippines – Mayor Richard Gomez has apologized for his driver’s mistake of parking his vehicle along the highway here on Saturday night.

Gomez said he was watching a comedy show in a nearby establishment and was not aware that his driver had parked his car on Real street, which is a national highway.

He said he suspended his driver for a week, so the driver would understand the offense and not make the same mistake.

A netizen, Andrea Larrazabal Tan, posted on her Facebook account pictures of three cars parked along the highway and a sign warning vehicle owners not to park in the area.

The pictures were posted at around 8:40 p.m. and reached Gomez’s attention at around 9:40 p.m. while he was still watching the show.

Gomez immediately asked his bodyguard to tell his driver to look for a proper place to park.
