6 dead in Palawan road mishap

MANILA, Philippines - Six persons, including two minors, died and over 20 others were injured when the bus they were riding rolled over after overtaking a delivery van and a tricycle in Taytay town in Palawan yesterday afternoon.

Donato Edenden; Janet Apolinario, 5; Aira Apolinario, 4; Romeo Dedama Sr., 40, and Christina Abejo, 70, died at the scene.

Senior Inspector Bermar Herrera, Taytay police chief, said the sixth victim, who has yet to be identified, died on the way to a hospital.

The driver of the bus, Roque Arcede, 32, a resident of Barangay San Manuel in Puerto Princesa City, surrendered and is being held at the police station.

The injured passengers were brought to the Northern Palawan Provincial Hospital for treatment.
