2 drug suspects killed; 17 nabbed

MANILA, Philippines - Two more drug suspects were killed and at least 17 others, including three women, were arrested in separate incidents across the country in the past two days.

One was killed in an alleged shootout with undercover agents during a sting in Barangay Luga, Sta. Teresita, Cagayan on Sunday.?

Senior Inspector Aleeh Bacuyag, Sta. Teresita police chief, identified the fatality as Bernie Ariola, 24, alias Anning, a resident of Barangay Mission.?

Bacuyag said Ariola resisted arrest after handing three sachets of shabu worth P1,000 to a police who posed as a buyer.

In Nueva Vizcaya, Samson Quirubin died in an alleged shootout with police operatives in Barangay Vista Alegre in Bayombong town.

Chief Inspector Jenifer Flores, Bayombong police chief, said Quirubin surrendered under Oplan Tokhang, but continued his illegal activities.

In Isabela, a tricycle driver, whose partner was a drug suspect was killed by an identified men in Barangay 4 District 4 in Tumauini town on Sunday.

Rufo Canibas, a resident of Barangay San Juan in Delfin Albano town was not on the drug watchlist, said Police Officer 3 Redentor Cagurangan.

In Quirino, municipal veterinarian Alexander Cabe, 45, and his partner Aple Grace Mones were arrested in a sting in Barangay Villa Ventura, Aglipay town. ?

Two sachets of shabu were reportedly recovered from the suspects.

Senior Inspecor Gary Macadangdang, Aglipay police chief, said Cabe was on their drug watchlist.

Ten more suspected drug pushers, including a retired police officer, were arrested in Central Mindanao over the weekend.

Superintendent Romeo Galgo Jr., Soccsksargen police information officer, said firearms and explosives were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects were identified as Leonardo Abuan, his partner Emily Taberdo, Badrudin Sulaik, Allan Guialel, Christopher Cajilla, Arnel Academia and his partner, Ruby de Asis, Faljabar Agustin, a certain Oting Mando and Marvin Jade Dominguez.

Shabu flea market

In Cavite, police said an undetermined amount of suspected shabu were seized in separate raids on a shabu flea market in Barangay Datu Esmael in Dasmariñas City yesterday morning.

Three suspected drug pushers identified as Otinggay Mangundao, Bashit Mocalibat and Antara Landua eluded arrest, said Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police spokesperson.

In Camarines Norte, police said Menchie Sancha, the sixth most wanted drug suspect in Daet town was arrested in a sting in Barangay Bagasbas.

Eight sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from a couple during a raid in Tanay, Rizal on Sunday, said Chief Inspector Bartolome Margodon, Tanay police chief.

The leader of a drug syndicate believed to behind the proliferation of shabu in eastern Metro Manila and his cohorts were arrested in Taytay, Rizal on Sunday.

Melvin Exsano, 36, the alleged leader of the Exsano drug ring, his wife Marry Ann, 35; and cohorts Arlon Dionisio, 36, and Sherwin Valencia, 34, were collared in Barangay Sta. Ana. – Raymund Catindig, John Unson, Ed Amoroso, Francis Elevado, Victor Martin, Roel Pareño, Non Alquitran
