BOC seizes P10 M truck parts
TAGOLOAN, Misamis Oriental, Philippines – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) confiscated around P10 million worth of smuggled truck parts at the Mindanao Container Terminal on Thursday.
The trucks, which were loaded in five shipping containers, came from Japan and Korea.
Alvin Enciso, chief of the BOC’s regional office intelligence and investigation services, said four containers were consigned to Transport Automotive Sales Corp. based in Imus, Cavite and one to GB Import Export Trading and Baros Kenjiemael Import Export Trading in Barangay Kauswagan in this town.
Nash Guro, head of the assessment division, said the truck parts, which were intended as replacement items were actually assembled truck sections.
“Once the shipped motor parts contain the three main parts of a vehicle – engine, chassis and cabin – they are considered a fully assembled vehicle and requires a permit from the Bureau of Import Services,” Guro said.
