67 Western Visayas cops relieved

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – At least 67 personnel of the Western Visayas police have been relieved from their posts.

The relief of the police personnel, including eight with ranks of inspector and higher, was effective at noon yesterday, said Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, Western Visayas police spokesman.

Gorero confirmed that most of those relieved were accused of involvement in the illegal drug trade or corruption.

“Basically, it’s a question of their character,” Gorero said.  

He said the affected personnel would undergo character aptitude development and enhancement training.
