BAGUIO CITY — A bounty of P100,000 will be given to whoever can provide information on the whereabouts of the suspects who robbed and killed a money changer operator two months ago.
The city government of Baguio and the anti-crime group Grace-Guardian Inc. raised the bounty to help in resolving the grisly robbery and killing.
Larry Oliva Haya Sr., 65, who operates a foreign exchange store at the city public market just alighted from a passenger jeepney heading home at Purok 5, Bakakeng Norte, here when two armed suspects pointed guns at him at around 5:40 p.m. on June 15. Upon sensing the commotion, his brother, Randolph, 67, came out of their house but was fired upon by the suspects.
The duo fled on foot with a bag full of foreign and Philippine currency worth at least P3 million.
Haya Sr. died in the hospital while his brother was saved.
Right after the incident, policemen were able to find the brown leather sling bag on a grassy area near the creek used by the suspects in their escape.
A tracker team of the Baguio police were able to access a copy of the CCTV footage along the escape route of the two suspects, who according to Superintendent Gerry Fernandez, Baguio City police chief for investigation, have not yet been fully identified.
“We are asking the public to help in identifying and nailing down the suspects,” Fernandez said.
