MANILA, Philippines -- Three suspected drug pushers, including a police officer, were killed after they exchanged gunfire with undercover officers during a sting operation in Taguig City early Thursday morning.

The Southern Police District identified those killed as Bryan Oliveros, 40, a resident of GHQ Village, Barangay Katuparan, Taguig; Edwin Reyes, 46, of Sto. Tomas, Nueva Ecija; and PO3 Leonilo Quiambao, 37, a resident of Barangay Katuparan, Taguig City and presently assigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the National Capital Region Police Office.

According to the SPD, undercover police officers from the SPD-District Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and the Taguig Police conducted the sting at about 2:20 a.m. in a house inside the GHQ Village in Barangay Katuparan when the suspects realized that they were dealing with lawmen.

The suspects, the SPD said, then drew their guns and started shooting at the undercover police officers.

The operatives immediately sought cover and were able to return fire but PO2 Alvin Taduyo was hit on the left foot. He was later brought to the St. Luke's Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City for emergency treatment.

Police said the three suspects died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of the body.

The bodies were later brought to the Loreto Funeral Homes for autopsy.
