2 BIFF men killed, 3 soldiers hurt in clashes

MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – Two members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) were killed while three soldiers were wounded in clashes in Shariff Saidona town in Maguindanao yesterday.

The hostilities erupted when the bandits ambushed a group of soldiers who responded to reports that improvised bombs were planted along the road in Barangay Pamalian.

Capt. Joann Petinglay, spokesperson for the 6th Infantry Division, said the wounded soldiers were brought to a hospital at Camp Siongco in Datu Odin Sinsuat.

Petinglay said the BIFF men were led by Imam Karialan, who is wanted for heinous crimes.
