3 killed in Rizal shootout
MANILA, Philippines - An alleged leader of a gunrunning gang and two of his companions were killed in a shootout with police officers in Cainta, Rizal yesterday morning.
Jojo Parado of the Parado Gang died and his companions died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body. Police have yet to identify the two fatalities.
Parado’s wife and three others were arrested for interrogation, according to Rizal police director Senior Superintendent Adriano Enong Jr.
Reports said the suspects shot at a team of police officers out to serve seven search warrants at Parado’s residence in Barangay San Juan at around 6 a.m.
The raiding team retaliated, triggering a firefight.
Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a .22 caliber revolver, a homemade shotgun, plastic sachets said to contain shabu and drug paraphernalia from Parado’s residence.
Aside from gunrunning, Parado’s group was also involved in the illegal drug trade, Enong said.
