5,000 trees planted in Samar

The Philippine Star

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines – Around 2,000 volunteers have planted at least 5,000 trees in Calbayog City in Samar recently.

“We all know that planting trees or reforestation is one of the many ways we can combat the effects of climate change and… disregard of the environment,” Leonardo Sibbaluca, regional director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said on Wednesday.

The tree-planting activity was a joint project of the DENR, ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan and Samar Rural Farmers Association.
