Jeep collides with truck in Iloilo; 7 dead

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Seven persons were killed when a passenger jeepney and a 10-wheeler truck collided in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo yesterday.

The fatalities, all passengers of the jeepney,  have yet to be identified.

Chief Inspector Raymund Celoso, Barotac Nuevo police chief, said the accident occurred in Barangay Bungca at around 3: 45 p.m.

Police said the truck, which was on its way to Iloilo City from Anilao town, collided with the jeepney traveling to Banate in the opposite direction.

The driver of the truck, identified as Blake Alfar, a resident of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental, and his two passengers were injured. They were brought to a hospital for treatment and then discharged.

An investigation is ongoing.
