Floods hit Maguindanao
MAGUINDANAO, Philippines – More than 30 barangays in five towns in Maguindanao have been submerged in floodwaters since Wednesday.
The affected barangays are near the Liguasan Delta in Sultan sa Barongis, Rajah Buayan, Datu Piang, Shariff Saidona and Datu Salibo.
“Farmers in these areas have yet to recover from the losses they incurred as a result of the drought,” said Maguindanao Gov. Esmael Mangudadatu.
Provincial administrator Wahab Tunga said they are preparing food packs for affected villagers.
Lynette Estandarte, provincial budget officer, said the Army’s 6th Infantry Division is helping monitor the water level in the rivers around the affected towns.
