‘Keep out of Bulusan, Kanlaon danger zones‘
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has warned the public again against entering the four-kilometer- radius permanent danger zones around Mt. Bulusan and Mt. Kanlaon.
“Entry into the permanent danger zone is strictly prohibited due to the possibility of sudden and hazardous steam-driven or phreatic eruptions,” Phivolcs said.
Weak to moderate emissions of white steam plumes were recorded from the two volcanoes in the past 24 hours.
The steam plumes reached 250 meters and drifted northwest, Phivolcs said.
Four earthquakes were also recorded at the two volcanoes.
Phivolcs said the volcanoes remain on alert level 1, which means that hydrothermal processes are ongoing and may lead to more steam-driven explosions.
