Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has procured 48 utility trucks to be distributed to its regional offices.

PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said the trucks could be used to support troop movement and special operations as well as disaster response and counterinsurgency.

The National Capital Region Police Office will get five trucks while the other regions will get two each.

Eight of the trucks will be turned over to PNP support units, including the Special Action Force, Maritime Group, Regional Public Safety Battalions and Highway Patrol Group.

The PNP spent P153.6 million to procure the vehicles.

“Our procurement process has improved. We have done a lot in improving the operational capability of the PNP,” said Interior Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento.
