MANILA, Philippines — The Traffic Engineering Division of Pasig City advised motorists of possible heavy traffic due to an Iglesia Ni Cristo event to be held at PhilSports Arena or Ultra.

In a traffic security plan released Sunday, the local government of Pasig City indicated that heavy traffic is anticipated around 12 p.m. for the arrival of INC officials, delegates and guests attending its evangelical mission called “Lingap Pamamahayag.”

Crisanto Saruca Jr. of Metro Manila Development Authority Traffic Discipline Office said there will be no road closures but warned the motorists of traffic congestion along streets nearby PhilSports Arena at 12 noon onwards.

Areas with expected heavy traffic are as follows:

  • St. Martin Street
  • Molave Street
  • Lanuza Avenue
  • St.  Paul Road
  • Meralco Avenue
  •  Julia Vargas Avenue
  • Capt. Henry Javier Street

On the other hand, the Pasig City traffic division also suggested optional alternate routes to avoid the anticipated traffic:

  • All vehicles from Capt. Henry Javier St. (west bound) going to Meralco Avenue are advised to take St. Martin Street, left to Molave Street, left to St. Paul Street to destination
  • All vehicles from St. Martin Street (via Capt. Henry Javier Street) going to Meralco Avenue are advised to take Molave St., left to St. Paul Road to destination
  • All vehicles from Meralco Avenue going to St. Martin Street (via Capt Henry Javier St.) are advised to take St. Paul Road to destination
  • All vehicles from Meralco Avenue going to Oranbo Drive via Capt Henry Javier St. are advised to take Shaw Boulevard, left to Danny Floro Street, left to Capt. Henry Javier Street to destination
  • All vehicles from Meralco Avenue going to Capitol Commons via Capt Henry Javier Street are advised to take Estancia entrance to destination

The traffic security plan said the Chief Enforcement and Operation Division shall ensure smooth flow of traffic in the area, as well as the safety of the officials, guests, delegates, and the people. It is also tasked to organize parking of vehicles and keep the affair peaceful and orderly.

Last Friday, INC also held Lingap Pamamahag at the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City, that affected traffic flow in major thoroughfares.
