Central Luzon senior high school enrollment higher than projected
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Enrollment in the senior high school program in Central Luzon was 3.16 percent higher than projected, an official of the Department of Education (DepEd) said yesterday.
“As of June 24, 72,200 senior high school students opted to enroll in public schools, 70,071 in private schools, and 1,773 in state universities and colleges (SUCs),” said Malcolm Garma, DepEd regional director.
Garma said the number of enrollees is expected to further increase as the June 30 deadline nears.
He said 90,697 Grade 11 students chose the academic track; 52,903, technical-vocational livelihood; 316, arts and design, and 128, sports.
Garma said the academic track has four strands – accountancy, business and management; humanities and social sciences; science and technology, engineering and mathematics, and general academic.
“In terms of the readiness of public schools for senior high school, we have completed the construction of 1,659 classrooms and hired 3,888 teachers,” he said.
At least 466 public schools, 639 private schools and 11 SUCs in Central Luzon offered Grade 11 this school year. ??
